International Open Focus Groups

We are requesting your participation in study which may include an online survey and an optional interview or focus group. We invite you to participate for the duration of the project. We anticipate the maximum time commitment to be approximately 15-90 minutes over the course of the project.

The initial survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will focus on your experience with and opinions about the framework. We estimate the focus group will take approximately 1 hour.

Your participation in this study is voluntary, and there is no penalty at all if you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time. You have the right not to answer any question, and to stop participation at any time. You must be 18 years of age to participate.

Your participation will benefit the overall quality of the Application Framework for Critical Pedagogy, and results will inform future design and development of online courses. There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to your participation.

Focus groups will remain confidential and open to domestic and international participants. All data collected will remain anonymous for publication. Due to the nature of focus groups and the simultaneous inclusion of multiple participants who will interact with each other, we cannot guarantee the complete anonymity or confidentiality of participants. US-International focus groups will not be recorded. Auto-transcripts will be enabled, and transcripts will be destroyed on or before December 31, 2022.

No personally identifiable information will be collected from international participants. Results of this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications but your name will not be known.

If you have any questions concerning the research study, please contact the research team— Chandra Crudup (Chandra.Crudup@asu.edu), Mary Mathis Burnett (Mary.MathisBurnett@asu.edu), or Leigh Graves Wolf (Leigh.Wolf@asu.edu).  If you have any questions about your rights as a participant in this research, or if you feel you have been placed at risk, you can contact the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board through the ASU Office of Research Integrity and Assurance at (480) 965-6788.
